BIRMINGHAM, AL (September 13, 2021) – Alvarado, Texas has partnered with Retail Strategies, the leading national recruitment firm, to develop and execute a retail recruitment strategy on behalf of the city. In addition to retail recruitment, the city will be joining with Downtown Strategies in order to help revitalize the downtown.
“Alvarado sees the significant impact that can be made by partnering with both Retail Strategies and Downtown Strategies,” said Mayor Jacob Wheat. “Our city leadership is working to provide an environment of growth and expansion in Alvarado. These two services will both attract national retailers while setting up our downtown area to prosper through strategic community planning.”

Through the new partnership, Retail Strategies will perform a real estate market analysis of Alvarado to identify areas of opportunity for expanding businesses to open in the city. The Retail Strategies team will partner with city leaders to help them understand their market’s unique opportunities for additional sales tax collections and options to enhance the city’s quality of life. Additionally, Retail Strategies will proactively reach out to potential businesses, property owners, brokers, and developers to market the city of Alvarado for new retail stores, restaurants, hotels, and commercial development.
“The Alvarado market is ripe with opportunity for new retail expansion along Interstate 35 as well as some great retail sites in town,” said Matthew Tate, director of business development. “Alvarado is a great market just South of Fort Worth that features a lot of new home builds along with high traffic counts. The city also has a small-town charm and great bones in the downtown that through a smart revitalization plan should have no problem attracting additional investment in the city.”
Downtown Strategies will host an in-market workshop with business owners, merchants, community leaders, and elected officials to gain feedback and stimulate dialogue on the community’s vision for downtown Alvarado. The team will execute an in-depth market and real estate analysis to create Alvarado’s customized Downtown Strategic Plan with specific strategies focused on design, walkability, policy, tourism, and economic catalyst opportunities for the surrounding downtown area.
“Downtown Alvarado has a lot of opportunity that Downtown Strategies is excited to dive into,” said Jenn Gregory, president of Downtown Strategies. “Our team will immerse ourselves in Alvarado through community participation and a market analysis. We are pleased to be partnering with this client community.”
