Hartsville/Trousdale County Industrial Development Board Brings on Downtown Strategies, Succeeding Success in Retail Academy

BIRMINGHAM, AL (January 27, 2021) – The Industrial Development Board of Hartsville/Trousdale County has selected Downtown Strategies, a division of Retail Strategies, as its partner for downtown revitalization and strategic visioning for Hartsville, Tennessee. Hartsville participated in Tennessee Department of Community & Economic Development supported training program, Retail Academy, facilitated by Retail Strategies.
Mayor Stephen Chambers and IDB member Bryan King participated in Retail Academy 101 in 2018 and Retail Academy 201 in 2020. Following the success of their participation, Hartsville elected to continue efforts to recruit national retailers and partner with Downtown Strategies to develop and advance the Downtown Hartsville area.
The partnership will focus on Downtown Hartsville, conducting a market and real estate analysis on downtown to formulate a strategic plan. This partnership also includes a Strategic Visioning Workshop with downtown stakeholders and ongoing support to implement the strategic plan.

“The city made great strides in Retail Academy, so Downtown Strategies is eager to go further in-depth in the market,” said Jenn Gregory, president of Downtown Strategies. “Our goal is to deliver a strategic plan targeted at reviving Downtown Hartsville.” The Retail Strategies team will host an in-market workshop with business owners, merchants, business owners, community leaders, and elected officials to gain feedback and allow dialogue to provide immediate assistance to those needing it most. The team will then execute a market and real estate analysis taking a deeper dive into Downtown Hartsville. A customized Downtown Strategic Plan will be developed with specific strategies focused on policy, design, tourism, and economic catalyst opportunities for the downtown area. Ongoing support and assistance with implementation will begin once the plan has been delivered.
