BIRMINGHAM, AL (June 10, 2022) – The Lake Charles City Council recently voted to enter into an agreement with Retail Strategies, the leading national community development firm, to develop and execute a retail recruitment plan on behalf of the City of Lake Charles. After a thorough selection process, city leaders selected the Retail Strategies team to expose their community to new retail opportunities, especially in underserved areas of the city.

“Retail Strategies will partner with city leaders to help them understand and identify their untapped development, redevelopment and retail recruitment prospects,” said Lacey Bacchus, business developer for Retail Strategies. “We are thrilled to partner with the City of Lake Charles and take their community’s growth potential to the next level.”

Mayor Nic Hunter of Lake Charles stated, “Our city has many things happening that promise to spur economic activity, such as our new lakefront development projects. We are excited to partner with Retail Strategies to have them identify new retail, restaurants, and businesses. The City Council and I hope to attract new quality options for our residents, potential new residents, and tourists. Specific focus will be placed on underserved areas of the city.“

The city will receive a tailored retail recruitment plan through the partnership-based and in-depth market analysis, consumer analysis, and proactive retail and broker outreach by the Retail Strategies team. Christopher Bontrager and Madison Neal will support the Lake Charles team by performing a boots-on-the-ground market tour to identify areas for potential economic growth. The next step is to create a retail recruitment plan and begin proactive outreach to specific retail real estate professionals including property owners, brokers, and developers.

My relationship with the Retail Strategies team has been extremely valuable over the last couple of years as I’ve searched for sites in the Southeast. They have been persistent and provided any information they could gather for available properties that fit my criteria. If they received news that a space was coming available they made sure to immediately give me a call and connect with the owners. I would recommend using this service to any of my colleagues looking in their client cities.
