BIRMINGHAM, AL (May 5, 2023) – The City of Thomaston will attend Retail Academy in an effort to focus on the future growth of restaurants and retail in their community. City leaders will participate in the day-long Retail Academy course in Birmingham, Alabama on May 10th where they will learn how to speak to retail real estate decision-makers and discover more about their population demographics and how to use that information to take action.

City of Thomaston Economic Development Coordinator, Taylor Smith, stated, “Our municipal leaders are delighted to begin educating ourselves on the best practices for speaking ‘real estate’ when recruiting new businesses to Thomaston. We are looking to determine what factors retailers consider when expanding to new cities, and we are confident that the Retail Strategies team can provide that information.”

“Before Retail Academy, our team will become acquainted with Thomaston’s real estate, enabling us to train the city’s officials in the finest methods and procedures for recruiting retail,” said Madeline Farr, director of Retail Academy. “The Retail Academy attendees will leave with thorough knowledge, information, and contacts to start the retail hiring process that will maximize their real estate.”

My relationship with the Retail Strategies team has been extremely valuable over the last couple of years as I’ve searched for sites in the Southeast. They have been persistent and provided any information they could gather for available properties that fit my criteria. If they received news that a space was coming available they made sure to immediately give me a call and connect with the owners. I would recommend using this service to any of my colleagues looking in their client cities.
